Change Management – Understanding & Supporting Change in Local Government

Overview
As Local Government is continuously being asked to do more with less, and as election results become more and more difficult to predict, the ability to understand and support change is a key skill for local government staff.
In this highly participatory, 3-hour, live online, engaging, and fun training session we show delegates how to identify potential change for their team / organisation and how to plan and monitor the change.
Who should attend?
This course is well suited to any councillor or officer who potentially has responsibility for chairing or leading a meeting. This is an introductory level course suitable for staff with no previous training in this area.
Course Outline – Agenda
- Know the drivers of change
- Be able to use PEST analysis
- Identify a potential change for your team and look at the benefits, pitfalls and implications
- Be able to plan and monitor a simple change
- Understand the human effects of change
- Know how to overcome barriers to change
- See the importance of communication in the change process
Learning Objectives (success criteria)
Delegates will leave the course with a clear understanding of what drives change and how to identify when change is needed or required.
Delegates will also be able to plan and monitor change in their team, department, or organisation and the important role communication plays.
Finally, delegates will investigate the human effects of change and will explore how to overcome some of the barriers put in place to resist change.
