1x 3 hour, Online course (via Teams or Zoom) with a professional trainer and a maximum group size of 16 people.
Overview
Successful meetings can improve the productivity and effectiveness of your organisation, but the skill of the meeting chair is crucial for a successful outcome.
In this 3 hour fully interactive online session, we will improve the confidence of delegates and give them new skills to improve their meeting leadership skills.
Who should attend?
This course is well suited to any councillor or officer who potentially has responsibility for chairing or leading a meeting. This is an introductory level course suitable for staff with no previous training in this area.
Course Outline – Agenda
- Introduction, what skills and knowledge does a chair need?
- Attentiveness, Empathy, Integrity, Acumen, Leadership
- Planning the meeting (agenda and pre meeting planning and communication).
- Conducting the meeting (part one – mechanics and technicalities and standard agenda items)
- Conducting the meeting (part two – dynamics, communication and influencing the speed, flow, and direction)
- Working with the meeting administrator (minute taker)
- Post meeting responsibilities
- Conclusion
Learning Objectives (success criteria)
By the end of this course, delegates will have gained confidence and learnt several new techniques and skills to improve their leadership of meetings. Delegates will explore the stages of a meeting and how to produce better agendas. on delegates will be able to:
